Stillness — Privacy Policy

Your privacy is simple: Stillness does not collect, store, or share any of your data. Period.

No Data Collection

Stillness does not collect any personal information. No names, no emails, no usage analytics, no tracking, no advertising identifiers. Nothing leaves your device.

All Data Stays On Your Device

Your session history, scheduled locks, named seasons, blocked-app list, settings, and emergency contacts are stored locally on your phone. This data is never transmitted to any server. If you uninstall Stillness, all data is permanently deleted.

Why We Need Permissions

Stillness requests permissions that may sound alarming. Here is exactly what each one does and why:

Device Administrator

This permission exists solely to prevent the app from being bypassed or uninstalled during an active lock session. It does not give Stillness access to your data, accounts, or any other phone functionality. It is only active during lock sessions.

Accessibility Service

This permission is used for two purposes only: to bring back the lock screen if you try to leave during a Full Lock session, and to detect which app is in the foreground during a Selective Lock session so blocked apps can be enforced. Stillness does not read, record, or transmit any screen content, keystrokes, or personal information through this service.

Phone Calls

Used so you can place emergency calls to your saved contacts directly from the lock screen, and so Stillness can let an incoming call through without breaking your session. Stillness does not read your call history, your system contact list, or any call content. The contacts shown on the lock screen are only the ones you add inside the app.

Exact Alarms

Used to fire your scheduled lock sessions on time. Without this permission, Android may delay scheduled locks by several minutes or batch them with other system events.

Notifications

Used only to display your active session timer and alert you when a session completes. No marketing notifications, no promotional messages, ever.

Run at Startup

Used to restore an active lock session after your phone reboots, so a forced restart cannot be used to bypass a session that is still meant to be running. Stillness does not run, collect data, or perform any work at startup outside of an active session.

Installed App List

Used only to show you the list of apps you can block in Selective Lock. The list of installed apps never leaves your device and is never transmitted anywhere.

Usage Access (optional)

Only used if you grant it, and only to surface the apps you spend the most time in as suggestions when you set up Selective Lock — so the apps most worth blocking are easy to find. Stillness does not transmit any of this data and does not record what you do inside other apps.

No Ads

No Third-Party Services

Stillness does not integrate with any analytics platforms, crash reporting services, advertising networks, or third-party SDKs that collect data. The only Google service used is the in-app review prompt provided by Google Play, which is shown by the system after you have completed several sessions and does not transmit any of your Stillness data.

No Internet Required

Stillness works entirely offline. The app does not require or use an internet connection.

Children's Privacy

Stillness does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be available at this same URL. Significant changes will be communicated through an app update.
